Ms Aprajita Sharrma is a career civil servant, and expert in telecom policy & climate action and sustainability, belonging to IP&TAF Service, 1995 batch posted in Dept of Telecom, Ministry of Communications with almost 27 years of work experience. She is currently posted as Deputy Director General Budget, Public Enterprise Finance in Department of Telecom (DoT) Headquarters, Ministry of Communication, India. She’s a Post Graduate and gold medallist in science , has a post graduate diploma in environment and sustainable development and financial management respectively and is currently pursuing Post graduate diploma in disaster management. She has vast experience of working in various streams of government, like Finance, Budget, Human Resources, Administration, Staff and Establishment, Capacity building, Telecom Revenue, Budget, Internal Check /Audit. She has also worked as Technical Advisor Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB), under the aegis of CAG (Comptroller and auditor General) of India. She has headed Finance of various states in the Department of Posts, Government of India. She has experience of working as Election Observer during various Indian Assembly and Parliamentary Elections on behalf of Election commission of India. Currently she is Vice Chair of International Telecom Union (ITU, Geneva) Council Standing Committee for administration and management for the year 2023/2024 and shall be Chair of the said Committee for the years 2025/2026. She is also resource person and holds a leadership position in Development sector of International Telecom Union (Geneva) Study Group 2 (SG2) Geneva, as co-Rapporteur/Chair for ICTs and Environment, which deals with E-waste management and role of frontier technologies in climate change mitigation. She has played active role in organizing workshops, webinars for ITU, also participated in various panel discussions at ITU, and instrumental in conducting various inter-national and national workshops/seminars for Department of Telecom, India.
